The invitation said noon. She awoke an hour before dawn and hit the ground racing. 5:30 a.m. and the laundry, dinner dishes from the previous night, and the lawn all badly needed her attention. But, she watched the clock anxiously as she went about her chores. The street lights went off and it was time to prepare her breakfast lest she arrive late, following the hour-long drive she would need to make in order to reach Santa Fe.
